In the last 30 years I’m proud of/grateful for: my appreciation of creative means if story telling.
By this I mean telling a story in an unexpected way. This includes books or movies written in an unconventional style or about something I’m caused to think about in a new way. But two forms of creative story telling which I have a great appreciation for and really enjoy are serial television dramas (the kind where you have to start at the first episode or you won’t understand the rest) and video games. It is unconventional to think of a tv show as art, but many of the popular and critically acclaimed tv shows on cable tv are quite amazing as a method of story telling and social commentary. And many video games are the newer, more intricately thought out version of the choose-your-own-adventure books from my childhood.
How I celebrated: obviously I played some video games. I’m really enjoying it. Maybe I’ll be ready to be Matt’s sidekick in a multiplayer game sometime soon?
