11 DAYS TIL 30

In the last 30 years I’m proud of/grateful for: my little brother.

I’m almost 12 years older than him. Most people might think that’s too many years between in to have a close relationship but I have to say that any fewer wouldn’t have had the same impact on me.

My mom and I often say how boring our family would have been without him. It truly would. I think we would be boring and selfish and I know I definitely wouldn’t have learned the same responsibility and compassion that I did by helping care for someone so young in my teen years.

Being a big sister to him is one of the things in my life I’m most proud of and an opportunity I’m so grateful to have in my life. I’m so proud of the man he is becoming. In so many ways he’s so much cooler/mature/smarter/more social/better adjusted than my older brother and I ever were at his age.

How I celebrated: we went to my grandparents’ house yesterday and got to visit with them, my parents, both my brothers, the older one’s family, and several of my aunts, uncles and cousins.
