2 DAYS TIL 30

In the last 30 years I’m proud of/grateful for: buying a house.

Being able to buy a house symbolizes having “arrived” at adulthood to me. When we saved up enough money and bought a house, it meant to me that our life was financially stable and that we made good choices. I love our house and I love that it’s something Matt and I picked out and bought together. It’s the place we live and share together with our herd of dog-daughters and I’m proud that we are able to.

How I celebrated: yesterday evening was really enjoyable to me. Driving home from swimming (water aerobics) at the Rec center when it was dark outside, but temperature warm and breezy enough to have the windows down, a Death Cab for Cutie CD playing and getting dinner from Chipotle gave me a feeling of nostalgia because it reminded me of winter/spring 2006 where all of the above came together a few times a week. Matt and I were on the university’s triathlon club team back then and a gang of us would follow our unsaid-leader-of-coolness (Matt) to his favorite late-night-snack place (Chipotle) after swim practices. I remember hoping he would sit by me or talk to me. Among the CDs often playing in his car during the beginnings of what would be our relationship was Death Cab for Cutie. Needless to say, taking a moment to appreciate all of these things as a reminder of where we started and how far we’ve come since warmed my heart and reminded me how happy my life has been since he came into it. (pardon my cheesiness)
