Conversation over coffee this morning

  • Me: Did you leave me any more notes with invisible ink in the kitchen?
  • Husband: No, but I heard you checking yesterday.
  • […with the UV light on the Doctor Who sonic screwdriver I got him for Christmas, complete with sound effects.]

    Highlights from the past week:

-Birthday dinner at The Republic (local steak house) with Matt, his grandparents, and cousin.

-Favorite gifts: desktop patrol Dalek from Doctor Who that yells exterminate, a sonicare toothbrush and a Shark steam mop (all really fun to use).

-It was below freezing for a couple nights here in Texas so we turned on the heater for the first time this year.

-My brother and Dad came to visit this weekend (Mom was sick) and we had a great time—tacos for lunch, charity beer garden event (with rootbeer, too), and pizza from BJ’s Brewhouse for dinner. We were stuffed and had a fun day.

-Today Matt and I saw his high school’s theater department’s performance of A Christmas Carol. It’s way better with zombies than ghosts, although I’m sure some didn’t appreciate the deviations from the classic tale.

-Spent the rest of the day doing laundry, cooking vegetable soup in the crockpot for my work lunches (Matt doesn’t do vegetables, unless you count potatoes), watching The Walking Dead on Netflix, ironing, and now watching Zombieland on tv.

(Obviously today’s theme is zombies.)

For all wondering, being 30 makes me feel old but I’m really enjoying it so far because I’m trying to really appreciate life.

P.S. I’ve decided that the theme for my next decade of life is to take what steps I can to be as environmentally and ecologically conscious as possible. Any ideas/advice/suggestions are appreciated.
